Teen Choice Awards 2012: The Winners – Jamie Tuohy

The 2012 Teen Choice Awards took place in LA last night, and the ceremony, which was hosted by Demi Lovato and Kevin McHale was traditionally relaxed, with surfboard giveaways and semi-serious acceptance speeches.

The night proved to be hugely successful for chart-topping boyband One Direction, who, despite not being able to attend, won 3 awards, including Best Breakout Group and Choice Love Song for What Makes You Beautiful.

The 1D lads recorded a quirky video message, which involved them piecing together their surfboard awards. They also beat Coldplay, Maroon 5 and The Wanted to claim the board for Choice Summer Music Group.

Other big music winners on the night were Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber, who won 3 and 4 awards respectively.

The Hunger Games, The Vampire Diaries and Pretty Little Liars all scooped some of the best TV and movie awards on the night, with Zac Efron winning Choice Movie Actor for his performance in The Lucky One.

Twilight was naturally recognised, with Rob PattinsonKristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner all taking to the stage, in what has become an annual tradition. They accepted the Ultimate Choice Award and both Rob and Kristen were feeling generous – giving their boards to lucky audience members.

However, my favourite award went to internet-sensations, Sophia Grace and Rosie, who thanks to number appearances on The Ellen Show, scooped the prize for Choice Web Stars.

Performances on the night came from BieberCarly Rae Jepsen and No Doubt, with Gwen Stefani storming the stage, performing their new single Settle Down.

Justin Bieber to be sued for $9m? – Jamie Tuohy

Somebody has finally stood up to teeny-bopper Justin Bieber and made a formal complaint about the injustice he has been carrying out to music for the last number of years. Image

Okay, this is a slight embellishment, but he is being sued for $9m by a mother who claims that she suffered hearing loss following one of the 18-year-old’s gigs.

Stacey Wilson Betts is suing Biebs for over $9m, after reporting that she was rendered deaf and is suffering from tinnitus and hyperacusis due to a “sound blast which exceeded safe decibels” in the Rose Quarter in Portland, Oregon. After taking her daughter to the concert, Betts states that Justin expounded her condition, by pointing to the specific areas of the crowd and initiating loud shrieking from the fans.

The lawsuit “respectfully” asks for $9,200,000 for compensation, following the permanent impairment of Ms Bett’s hearing.

My two cents: a far-fetched case and completely unrealistic amount of money, to say the least.

Hair-y Styles comes out on top with new No.1 – Jamie Tuohy

Harry Styles has beaten off competition from the likes of Justin Bieber, George Lamb and David Beckham – in a battle of the hairstyles. Image

The One Direction star came out on top in the survey, revealing that the 18-year-old’s barnet is the most requested look in UK salons. The singer beat fellow teeny-bopper Justin Bieber, who came in third place, just behind David Beckham’s (yes, really) 50s style quiff.

George Lamb and Mark Ronson completed the top 5 with their unique styles and they were followed by Burberry model Eddie Redmayne, who came in 6th place, with Daniel Craig, Jamie Redknapp and Leonardo DiCaprio all featuring on the list.

Perhaps Harry has been using the power of his locks to woo his latest conquest – former Made in Chelsea star Caggie Dulop. Despite denials from 1D representatives, the two were spotted partying together at London’s Dosaria Club on Thursday night.

At 22-years-old, Caggie is only 5 years older than Harry – strange, considering the curly-haired singer’s much publicized affiliation for the older ladies!

Meanwhile, in between dominating the hair industry and honing his chat-up lines, Harry was recently spotted house-hunting in London’s prestigious Primrose Hill, in the hope of finding some bricks and mortar to invest his ever expanding bank balance in!
