Girls Aloud to call it quits after 10 year anniversary | Jamie Tuohy

Fans are waiting in eager anticipation for Girls Aloud’s BIG ANNOUNCEMENT (which Cheryl has actually already revealed) this Friday, but the forthcoming news will be slightly dampened by the revelations that their reunion comeback tour will mark the end of the band.

In her newly-released autobiography, My Story, Cheryl has revealed that Girls Aloud will be embarking upon a farewell tour and a greatest hits album.

She writes, “We’ll be working on a tour and greatest hits album. Then I think that’s it for Girls Aloud. We’ve achieved more than any of us ever dared to dream of.”

The anticipation for the announcement has been heightened through the band’s new website,, which is hosting a countdown, right to the very second.

Speaking on Alan Carr’s Chattyman, Cheryl revealed that her book caused anger amongst her management, as she spoiled the surprise. She said, “The book was supposed to come out after we said something, so to put it quite frankly I’ve dropped myself in the sh*t.” Oh well.”

Girls Aloud have enjoyed record-breaking chart success and became the most successful girl band to emerge from a talent-show, but with Cheryl emerging as the band’s most famous and successful star, it was speculated that the tension between her and the band’s lead-singer Nadine was a major force in their ‘taking some time out.’

However, in her book, Cheryl dispels such notions, but does concede that when Nadine didn’t show up to the 2008 BRIT Awards with the rest of the band, it was a slap in the face for the girls.

“I think we all expected her to come up with some sort of excuse, but she actually just admitted, ‘It’s not really my thing’.”

“I can remember a sort of stunned silence, like we’d all be slapped in the face, but I was so cut up about my marriage this didn’t really make the impact it probably should have.”

Nadine recently tweeted that she ‘never ever’ wants Girls Aloud to end, but it looks like her hopes and the wishes of millions of loyal supporters are about to be dashed.

Rihanna’s New Fashion Show is a Star-Studded Style Extravaganza | Jamie Tuohy

Take the two most stylish ladies in Girls Aloud (that’s Cheryl and Nicola, in case you’re wondering), combine them with the experience of quirky designer Henry Holland and add two international superstars, in the form of Katy Perry and Rihanna and what have you got?

Well, I’m no mathematician, but to me, that equation looks like the recipe for an explosive new fashion show!

Styled to Rock is a new series which will be produced by and star Rihanna, who will oversee 12 competitors, all vying for a chance to dress the We Found Love hitmaker for one of her London concerts. Rihanna will be joined by Girls Aloud’s Nicola Roberts, fashion designer Henry Holland and stylist Lysa Cooper, all of whom will act as mentors on the reality show.

The show promises to be the most celeb-packed extravaganza EVER, with Nicola’s bestie and fellow bandmate Cheryl Cole joining the show to set a task for the 12 young designers. Rihanna has also exploited her contact list by getting California Girl Katy Perry to appear on the show to set the candidates a fashion assignment as well.

However, the stellar line up doesn’t end there! Oh no! Cheryl and Katy will join the ranks of Pixie Lott, The Saturdays, Tinchy Stryder, Little Mix, Katy B, Rizzle Kicks, The Scissor Sisters and Katy B, who will all appear as guests, setting challenges on the show.

The music has for the title sequence has been produced by Calvin Harris and hair stylist extraordinaire Nicky Clarke will oversee the looks each week before the designers showcase their offerings to the star-studded panel. YES, I’m out of breath as well!

A spokesman for the show said: ‘There’s no room for mistakes – these are very real briefs – no musical artist wants a fashion disaster on their hands in front of merciless photographers and harsh fashion critics.’

Nicola was delighted to work with Rihanna, saying she is “truly original” and said that her mate Cheryl was more than happy to be a part of the show, revealing, “She loves anything like that and I think the fact it was undiscovered talent and these fresh, young designers, she loves her clothes so it was just a given and she really enjoyed it.”

Okay, just like Beyoncé, “I don’t know much about ALGEBUHH (anyone else notice how she says algebra? LOVE IT), but this is surely a formula for a ratings winner?

Watch the 10 week long series on Sky Living HD from 14 August. See the first clip of the new series here:

Cheryl, what happens in Vegas goes on Twitter – Jamie Tuohy

Cheryl Cole celebrated her 29th birthday in Las Vegas with her Girls Aloud bandmates Nicola and Kimberley and by the looks of things, it appears that the Call My Name singer marked the occasion in traditional Sin City style.

The trio aren’t impressed with their Tequila shots

Thanks to Twitter, fans were able to join in on the action in real time, as Nicola posted snaps from the bash on her account. As Nicola and Kimberley sat in first class, Nicola Tweeted a picture of her mate sipping a cocktail and proceeded to post various pictures from Cheryl’s soiree, with everything from their intimate dinner to their club outing appearing on the star’s Twitter page.

Starting early: Kimberley gets into party mode

Along with her Girls Aloud bandmates, Cheryl was joined by BFF Will.I.AM, who also took to the social networking site to show his love for the birthday girl. The Black Eyed Peas singer was DJing at XS Nightclub in the Encore Hotel and Cheryl took centre stage, joining her friend and manager in the DJ booth. He tweeted “I made the crowd sing happy birthday to @CherylCole in vegas last night…#thisislove there was #amillionlights”.

The BEP singer tweeted this snap of him and Cheryl

Will.I.Am got everyone in the party spirit

Following a weekend of intensive partying, Cheryl was feeling a little worse for wear and as the party’s action was played out online, it was rather appropriate for the Geordie singer to take to her own account to inform her followers of her consequent delicacy. Cheryl tweeted:  “Erm… few questions!! Who am I? Where am I?? Why am I?? What am I?”

It appears that if you’re Cheryl Cole, what happens in Vegas, certainly doesn’t  stay there!
