Tom Daley says he hasn’t got a “hope in hell” of dating Cheryl Cole | Jamie Tuohy

When Tom Daley and Cheryl Cole began sending flirty tweets to each other, the pair sent the social-networking site into meltdown, but in an interview with Heat magazine, the 18-year-old diver says he would never ask the Geordie singer out.

It all began when Cheryl sent Tom a congratulatory tweet during the Olympics, asking him to show her how to swan dive and since then, the pair have been exchanging tweets, and undoubtedly DMs, left right and centre.

However, while Tom said that the diving lesson will more than likely take place, he confessed that the chances of it turning into a romantic date are very slim.

Admitting that he would be too shy to ask the Call My Name singer out, Tom said,

“I haven’t got a hope in hell! It’ll just be embarrassing [if I ask her out], it’s not gonna work out. I wish I did have the courage to [ask her out]. I’ve got her calendar on my wall, so I’m used to seeing her [half-naked] and I see divers [half-naked] every day, although it is Cheryl.”

While Tom quashed any potential romance rumours, he did reveal that he will be delighted to finally get to meet Cheryl.

Tom also went on to say, that while rumours that Cheryl is in a relationship with backing dancer Tre Holloway are rife, he is very much single and American diver Kassidy Cook, is not his girlfriend, but simply a “good friend.”

He explained, “I think I’m too young for a relationship, I’ve always been quite independent, so I quite like not having a relationship – just generally being young, I guess.”

Could You Do Daley’s Daily Diet? | Jamie Tuohy

Ahead of my meeting with Cheryl Cole in October, I’ve momentarily decided to bulk up and get in shape. I say momentarily, because my unrepentant gluttony will be the agent provocateur to my sitting on the couch, with a Curly Wurly, watching Keeping Up With The Kardashians. Such a philistine anti-intellectual at times…Since diving sensation Tom Daley has been engaging in a tweetathon with the Geordie singer, I’ve decided to source out his diet and training plan and see what it takes to get sculpted like Daley. Apparently Tom does press-up with the equivalent of a 13-stone man on his back, so the likelihood of this training guide actually manifesting itself into physical and painful reality, is perhaps overly ambitious. Realistically, this is the regime of an Olympic athlete, so if I do try and attempt any of it, it would most likely be for a couple of hours a day, and not a full day’s training like Tom would be required to do.

  • Wake up and shower, followed by a breakfast of scrambled eggs.

  • The morning session is all about building and strengthening your core.
  • Warm, up with static stretches. Tom follows this with somersaults, but, lacking his flexibility, I’m going to replace them with dumbbell wrist curls to bulk forearms.
  • Do some overhead and lateral extensions, using a Thera-band – these will build up the muscles in your shoulders.
  • Repeat static stretches. Tom would do some board work in the pool at this stage. I’m just going to paddle.

  • Post-training snack. Cereal bar and chocolate milkshake. Sometimes a piece of fruit.

  • Lunch: Jacket potato and chicken to replenish protein levels during the recovery period.

  • Dinner/pre-training meal: Chicken or lean protein, steamed vegetables (broccoli, green beans) and some complex carbohydrates (sweet potato, brown rice, brown pasta).

  • Afternoon training session.
  • 2 hours of resistance training in the gym.
    • This involves weights, squats, press-ups and pull-ups.
    • It is recommended that you perform 4 sets of 5 reps for each of the 4 exercises.
    • As the weeks progress, you should be gradually increasing the weight for each set, to climax at 125kg for squats.
    • Tom also does loaded press-ups, with 85kg on his back and weighted pull-ups with a 20kg plate.
    • Tom follows this up with diving practice. This two hour session would realistically kill me, so it would complete a full day’s training.
    • I’d follow up it up with a few laps of the pool, at best.

  • Post-training snack. Chocolate milkshake followed by some toast and chocolate spread to replenish carbohydrate stores.

  • Post-training recovery. Stretches to work off lactic acid build-up. Massage 2-3 times a week, focusing on triceps.
  • Occasionally ice triceps.

  • Bed

As you can see it’s a full day’s training and a serious program. I’m going to try and do one of the sessions, be it the morning or afternoon one, every day, for as long as I can still breathe.

Could you handle the Triple D? (Daley’s Daily Diet).

Daley says Beckham’s Texts Helped Him Win Medal | Jamie Tuohy

Tom Daley has revealed that David Beckham sent his texts of encouragement and support after he missed out on a medal in the synchronised 10m diving event with partner Pete Waterfield.

Tom, who went on to win a bronze medal in the men’s 10m platform diving final on Sunday has said that Beckham told him to keep his “chin up” and to concentrate on his next event.

He said, “David was asking how I’ve been feeling, giving me advice about what to take out of the synchro. He was kind of asking me the right questions, telling me it’s not that bad and that I can come back.”

Beckham was there on Sunday to watch the final with his sons and the footballer looked ecstatic when Tom finished up in third place. The pair met up after the event and were delighted to chat with each other.

Beckham was not the only celebrity to wish Daley well, as Tom’s Twitter was inundated with messages of support from stars such as Cheryl Cole, Rosie Hunnigton-Whiteley, Louis Tomlinson, James Cordon and many more.

Are Tom and Cheryl about to DIVE into something serious? | Jamie Tuohy

Cheryl Cole gave Olympic diver Tom Daley a much-needed Twitter boost after the 18-year-old’s turmoil at the hands of a cowardly keyboard warrior.

The Call My Name singer cheekily asked Tom to teach her the ‘swan dive’ – a dive famously executed by Cheryl on The Voice UK.

It appears that amongst the masses of fans the diver has gained worldwide, the much-lusted after Cole is one of the diver’s most famous supporters. Cheryl tweeted, ‘I think you are amazing! Will you teach me how to swan dive?’

Tom quickly replied, retweeting Cheryl’s message and asking her to follow back. Of course, Cheryl did and the short exchange caused the social networking site to go into overdrive, with fans of both stars bombarding Twitter with tweets about the possible private messaging going on between the pair.

The light-hearted exchange comes a day after Tom was sent a vile tweet by a Twitter troll, who said that he had let his father down by not winning the synchronized diving event he was competing in with partner, Pete Waterfield.

Tom, whose father passed away last year, replied to the tweet, branding the user an “idiot” and it wasn’t long before the troll was arrested by Dorset Police.
