Frankie Cocozza’s new single soars up the charts | Jamie Tuohy

It’s surprisingly good news for Frankie Cocozza, as his debut EP, The Motorcyle has been steadily progressing up the iTunes chart following its release today, despite little promotion and virtually no backing from a major record label.

The video for the EP’s lead single, She’s Got a Motorcycle has been released online and is set to the backdrop of Cocozza’s Cockney tones, as he sounds more like an extra from Oliver Twist than a recording artist.

Despite Frankie’s limited vocal range, the EP is already at No.19 on the iTunes chart, with JLS just two places ahead of him with their new offering, Hottest Girl in the World. Poetic stuff from both parties, eh?

Frankie’s title track, She’s Got a Motorcycle is exactly what you’d expect from the wild-haired former X Factor star – a euphemism for sex, with emotional lyrics such as ‘she’s got a motorcycle / she won’t let me ride it’, ‘I’ve got a motorcycle / I know I took the Michael.’

Since being kicked off last year’s X Factor for breaking one of the show’s golden rules, Frankie has made a living for himself through club appearances and an infamous stint on Big Brother.

However, the EP looks set to climb the charts and the video is racking up the YouTube hits as well. Could Frankie confirm people’s worst fears and make it into the Top 10? Watch the video below and make up your mind!

X Factor Drama: Rough Copy out, Times Red and Union J back in | Jamie Tuohy

Axing, shake-ups and new band member additions. Welcome to the world of the X Factor.

Yes, the TV talent show has been given shake-up, after Rough Copy were booted out of the competition and Triple J and Times Red have been offered a place at judges’ houses instead of them.

Rough Times: Rough Copy have been booted out

It seems all very fixed complicated, doesn’t it? Well here’s what happened.

Rough Copy, who made it to Louis’ judges’ house were axed from the competition when it emerged that one of the band’s members, Kazeem Ajobe, 23, had left it too late to apply for a Visa and risked deportation. Ajobe, who was born in Nigeria, but now lives in South London, was told that he and his band members would have to leave the competition immediately. Gamu-gate much?

The new Triple J: George Shelley joins Triple J, to be renamed, Union J

New member: George Shelley

Rough Copy were firm favourites and Louis said that because they were so strong as a band, he needs two bands to replace them.

Taking Rough Copy’s place in Vegas for Louis’ judges’ houses segment, will be Triple J, who, originally, narrowly missed out on a place in Vegas on Saturday’s show.

However, the drama doesn’t end there, as it has emerged that Triple J, will now be called Union J, as they invited soloist George Shelley to join their group. (In a bid to become the new One Direction, no doubt!)

Second chance: Times Red are back in the competition

Times Red, who also failed to make it to Vegas will join Union J and the five other acts to battle it out for one of the four coveted spots in the live shows. The Abercrombie models said they were “delighted” to be given a second chance, and they will be doing everything in their power to impress Louis Walsh.

Speaking about the shake-up, Louis said,

“I asked Gary, Nicole and Tulisa if they minded if I took a seventh act.”

“They were happy as they felt they’d got the right six acts for their Judges’ Houses trips so I asked Times Red to come along and they said yes.”

Looks like the search for the next One Direction big  X Factor  boy band is on!

Olly Murs becomes a millionaire | Jamie Tuohy

Olly Murs is officially a millionaire.

According to accounts filed for the end of last year on behalf of his company, Stanley Entertainment, the Dance With Me Tonight singer has made over a million pounds since finishing as runner-up on The X Factor in 2009.

And the good news for Olly is that the accounts don’t take into consideration the cash he has made since December ’11, so they discount the hundreds of thousands he will have raked in from his number 1 album In Case You Didn’t Know and similarly, he will have made another small fortune from his UK and Irish arena tour.

A source close to the singer said, “Olly is a real grafter – he has worked his socks off since he took part in The X Factor.”

“He is constantly juggling working on the Xtra Factor, touring and recording new music, so every penny is hard earned.”

“When I first met him he was working in a call centre on six quid an hour.”

And it looks like the dosh is set to keep on rolling in for the tight-trouser-wearing singer, as his autobiography Happy Days is set to be released in early October and his first single, Troublemaker from his third album, Right Place, Right Time is also impending. And add to that the cash Olly will make from hosting the Xtra Factor and the money earned from his forthcoming second arena tour.

Any chance of a loan Mr Murs?

Look who’s back: Cheryl returns | Jamie Tuohy

Here are the pictures that finally confirm that Cheryl Cole will be making a triumphant return to our screens in the coming months, as she joined Gary Barlow as guest judge for his X Factor judges’ houses segment.

Looking ravishing in a monochrome ensemble, the Under the Sun singer flew into posh Boughton House in Northamptonshire, to aid the Take That singer with his talent-show duties.

As the pair arrived by helicopter, Gary, who was relatively casual, in a t-shirt and chinos, was seen beaming as he stood next to the Geordie songstress – undoubtedly confident in the fact that having Cheryl as a guest mentor is going to see the show’s rating’s increase ten-fold.

Cheryl will help Gary choose the cream of the crop from the over-25s category, but it will undoubtedly be a strange experience for the 29-year-old singer, who is more used to being the judge with the final word.

Cheryl and Gary reportedly hatched the plan following their Diamond Jubilee duet, and both parties are said to be satisfactorily pleased with themselves, having convinced Simon Cowell that Gary’s guest judge would be Robbie Williams.

Cheryl returns to X Factor | Jamie Tuohy

Cheryl Cole has returned to the X Factor.

Well, for one or two episodes anyway, as she will join Gary Barlow at his judges’ houses segment, whereby she will act as an assisting mentor to the Take That singer.

Apparently, the deal was struck up in secret, so as to keep Simon Cowell in the dark, with Gary asking Cheryl to come on board, following their Diamond Jubilee duet.

It is reported that Gary told Simon that Robbie Williams would return for a second year as Barlow’s assisting mentor, but all the while, Cheryl and Gary had been hatching a mischievous plan for Cheryl to make her X Factor return.

Last night an X Factor source confirmed: “Only Gary’s intimate inner circle know. He hasn’t even discussed it with Simon or ITV bosses. It’s been seriously top secret stuff.

“They’re all under the impression it’s going to be Robbie. No one even noticed the dates for the recording clashed with Robbie’s new solo tour.”

It hasn’t officially been confirmed yet, but with both Simon Cowell and Gary Barlow tweeting the Call My Name singer, it doesn’t take a genius to figure our what they’re not-so-secretly talking about. Simon tweeted a simple “Welcome back Cheryl. X” and Gary joked, “@CherylCole just so we don’t clash, I’m wearing the pink suit with the red shoes ;)”

Cheryl and Gary will be mentoring the over-25s category, with Sharon Osbourne also making a sensational return to the show when she joins Louis Walsh to help him select his four acts from the groups’ category.

Nicole Sherzinger will be aided by Ne-Yo as she tries to whittle down her rumoured cateogory, the boys, and Tulisa will be joined by Tinie Tempah, as she tries to find a winner within the girls’ category.

Meanwhile, Cheryl has been kept busy with her promotional duties for her new single Under the Sun. The 29-year-old singer filmed an interview with Jonathan Ross for his eponymously titled chat-show, which will air tonight (Sept 8) and she looked stunning in a black jumpsuit, with her hair slicked back into a ponytail and sultry and smoky eyes.

As well as performing her new track, Cheryl chatted to Jonathan about her single status and her ex-husband Ashley. She said that she decided to tell him what is coming up in her forthcoming autobiography, saying,

‘I didn’t have to, but I let him know it was happening. I just thought it would be nice that I gave him the heads up so he can leave the country two weeks before.’

Classic Cheryl. Can’t wait to see the interview tonight.

Tulisa on love and how she is an inspiration for “Broken Britain” | Jamie Tuohy

Tulisa Contostavlos has told Look magazine how she would give everything up to find love and said that she sees herself as an “inspiration for broken Britain.”

The 24-year-old singer confessed to the magazine that while her career is going from strength to strength, her personal life is stagnant and “numb.”

The singer and X Factor judge said, “Everything goes great in my career but my personal life has just been s***. Fame and money – I don’t give a c*** about all that stuff.”

“I’m not unhappy in the sense that I’m suffering from depression but I’m pretty numb at the minute. I just see myself in work mode, I’m like a robot: go in, work, go home. Autopilot.”

Tulisa, who split with Skins actor Jack O’Connell in June, also went on to describe how she views herself as a role model. She said,

“Why am I a role model? Because I have been myself. People are underestimating the kids of today – they’re not stupid.”

“I’m not an inspiration for upper-class kids whose parents don’t want them listening to an Eminem album. I’m an inspiration for Broken Britain.”

The Young singer, who was infamously crowned FHM’s Sexiest Woman in the World 2012 also revealed that she is entirely happy in her own skin and isn’t going to change for anyone.

The singer looks stunning in this old Hollywood photoshoot, exuding elegant glamour, but confessed that she prefers more comfortable clothing.

“I like to dress up, look glam and do shoots like this. I’m always going to be a hood chick. I like street clothes.”

“I’m comfortable in my skin, it just p***es me off that other people won’t accept it.”

She added: “You can see from the curves that I’m not working out – it’s just jelly! I swear on my mum’s life, I’ve never done a day’s exercise.”

First Look at 2012 X Factor Contestants | Jamie Tuohy

Ahead of the beginning of tonight’s new X Factor series, I’m taking a look at some of the contestants who’ll be appearing on tonight’s show. The season premiere is promising an eclectic mix of wannabe superstars, all vying for a coveted YES from Louis, Tulisa, Nicole and Gary in their quest for stardom.

Zoe Alexander

Zoe Alexander is 22-years-old and she’s from Caerphilly, in South Wales. A Pink tribute act, she tells Louis Walsh that she wants to be known as a performer in her own right, and not as a celebrity doppelgänger. She says,

“I have been doing the Pink tribute act for about two years now. It’s the best thing in the world when you love your job. Cause I get to perform, it makes me so happy and it makes other people happy and that makes me happy, I just want to please people. Doing well today would be an absolute dream come true, it means everything to me, it’s what I do, I’m not really very good at anything else, it means a lot to me.”

However, despite her declarations about wanting to be known as an artist in her own right, she sings Pink’s So What and her performance isn’t received well by the judges. She sings a second song, Emili Sande’s Next to Me, but she fails to impress the panel.

The judges appear confused with her identity issues, and Gary brands her voice ‘average’, which results in chaotic scenes. Zoe storms off the stage, screaming profanities at the judges and throwing her microphone on the ground. X Factor 2012 gets off to an explosive start!

Jahmene Douglas

Jahmene Douglas is a 21-year-old supermarket worker from Swindon and he wows the judges with his rendition of Etta James’s At Last. He admits that he’s a “stay at home kind of guy”, but overcomes his shyness to gain universal praise from the judges.

Louis calls him a “revelation” and Tulisa gushes, “You have not just The X Factor, not just raw talent but you have the shock factor. When you stepped on the stage you were like a timid little soul and you couldn’t express yourself, but you started expressing yourself the minute you started singing and it was freaking amazing!”

Gary adds, “Mate, I got to tell you I’ve never seen a vocal performance like that before, that was off the scale. You completely nailed it today. That is how to do an audition.”

I’m looking forward to seeing Jahmene’s performance tonight!

 Ella Henderson

Ella Henderson is only 16 and she astounds the judges with a song she wrote when she was 13. The Lincolnshire-based contestant says her late-grandad inspired the song.

Guest judge Mel B is impressed with Ella’s vocal and song-writing ability and tells her that, “It made me go into my own little world, and go Oh my God – I felt like that at one point, and that’s hard to do as a song writer. And when you sang it, you just made me believe every single word, I was right there with you. What we just witnessed was incredible, absolutely incredible.”

Gary’s comments tell her that she’s “out of this world” and Tulisa tells Ella that she wants to mentor her!

And there are plenty of lookalikes this year:

A girl called Ashley is told she looks like Tulisa, but says she works in a fish shop and hasn’t had any job offers yet. :/

Omar Rajpute fails to impress the judges, but they concede he’d do well in a Prince-themed week.

Alexander McLeish does his best Rod Stewart impression
